Report Of Rescue Of Wife Of Former Russian Diplomat
LONDON, May 28 (Recd 6 pm).—A gunfight between Turkish police and Soviet agents, which ended in the rescue by the police of the fugitive wife of a former Soviet diplomat, is reported by Turkish newspapers, according to the Associated Press Istanbul correspondent,. The report said the woman fought like a wounded tigress until the police, arrived and shot it out with rhe agents. The woman was Sanooer Khassanova, who vanished from tl.e Embassy in 1948, when her husband, then second secretary’, was recalled to Russia. Khassanova was adeged to have been drugged before being taken back to Russia. His wife went into hiding in Anatolia. The Russian agents were said tc have been overpowered after a gunfight in an hotel room on the Mcditer-j ranean coast. What happened to the] agents is not known.
