Her home in King’s Avenue, Gonville, was the scene of a pleasant party on Saturday night, when Miss Shirley Ryan, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Ryan, celebrated her 21st birthday. About 70 guests attended and Miss Ryan also received long-distance telephone greetings during the evening from friends and relatives unable to be present. A frock of watered green taffeta, fashioned with a shoulder-drape neckline and bouffant ipaniers on the skirt, were worn by the guest of honour. Mrs. Ryan wore a cocktail suit with a floral tunic top in pink and parma violet shades and a skirt of parma violet.

Chrysathemums in all colours were arranged throughout the house and the floral decorations in the marquee on the lawn, where a buffet supper was served, were in rose pink and apple green. Games and dancing were enjoyed by the guests. The toastmaster was Mr. A. P. Scott, Miss Ryan suitably replying.
