Morikau Defeat Ohotu In Close Game Morikau, undefeated Rugby champions of last season, in the Wainui-a-Rua Union, defeated Ohotu by 8 points (one converted try and one unconverted try) to 3 (one unconverted try). The match was played at Jerusalem. In the first 10 minutes of the game, when Morikau had only eleven plavers. their full-back, *1 Taiwhati, did* a lot of sound defensive work, tackling and kicking very soundly. Opposed by a heavier set of forwards, Morikau battled hard and points came when M. Taiwhati scored after an opening had been made by T. Wanihi, P Gray goaled.- Morikau 5, Ohotu 0. In the second half Ohotu set a fast pace .'■nd, from a melee, W. Tapa, centre three-quarter, gathered in the hall and scored. The kick failed. - Morikau 5, Ohotu 3. Good work by the veteran Ohotu player, C Scanlon, saw Ohotu get to within scoring distance on two consecutive occasions, but the defence was not found wanting. T. Wanihi scored for Morikau and the game ended. Morikau 8. Ohotu 3. Mr. E. Canterbury was the referee.
