Mr G. Gilmour, of the literary staff of the “Wanganui Herald," who is joining tho staff ot• the “Taranaki Herald.” was fareweiled by members of the staff yesterday afternoon when a presentation was made to him by the editor (Mr H. F. Low). Mr C. W. Newport, who died recently, was rememoercu at lasi, night’s annual mec.ing of the Wanganui section of the New Zealand Public Service Association, when a motion of sympathy was carried. Mr Newport was a committee representative ot the Department of Agr’culture at the time of his death. Mr E. P. Richardson, president of the Wanganui Officers’ Club, was a guest at the annual dinner of the Palmerston North Officers Club, held at Palmerston North on Thursday night. Guest speaker of the evening was Major-General Mr Howard Kippenberger. Messrs. G. H. Sorrell, national vicepresiclept, Mr. J. L. Wright, Wanganui representative on the executive committee, were visitors to Wanganui yesterday, when they attended the annual meeting of the Wanganui Section of the New Zealand Public Service Association.
