Miss Mary Samson has returned to
Wanganui after visiting her sister, Mrs Walter Fastier, of Stratford. Mrs V. C. Rapson, of Wellington, has been visiting Wanganui for a few days and returned home last night. Mrs G. S. Watts, of Hawera, is the guest of her sister, Miss V. SmithGuyton Street, for a few days. Mrs W. F. Roberton, Hatrick Street, who with her husband has been on a two months’ holiday in the South Island, has returned. Mrs Richard Moore, Durie Hill, left Auckland yesterday for London, where she expects to arrive on Sunday. She will be away for five months. Mrs Martin Smith. Carlton Avenue, left by air last Tuesday on a visit to her brother in the United States. She arrived there last Thursday and is at present at Salanas, neui San Francisco. Mrs Smith, who had not seeh her brother for many years, will be away for four months. Wanganui. Kai Iwi and Raetihi will be represented at the second annual ball of the Taranaki Maori Women’s Health League to be held at Hawera tonight. Mrs H. Marumaru, Mr Alex Takarangi. Mrs P. Metekingi, Miss K. Metekingi, of Wanganui; Mrs Taurangi Williams, of Kai Iwi, and members of the Raetihi Maori Women’s Health League, will attend. The Hon. Tirikatene. member on the Executive Council for the Maori Race, and Mrs Tirikatene, accepted an invitation to receive the debutantes. Pre-Wedding Parties Miss P. Treadwell- whose marriage takes place today, has been entertained at a number of parties at which recent hostesses have been Mrs J. McDougal, Mrs M. Macnab, Mrs E. Anderson and Miss Ngaere Keesing. Visitors for Today’s Wedding Among visitors to Wanganui for the Anderson-Treadwell wedding today are Mr and Mrs F. Thompson, Opotiki; Mrs Watson. Christchurch; Mr and Mrs Handley, New Plymouth; Mr and Mrs P. L. Cooper, Miss Ngaere Keesing (who is to oe bridesmaid). Dunedin; Mr and Mrs Ron Martin, Hastings; Mr and Mrs R. S. Treadwell, Mr Hugh, Treadwell, Mataroa; Miss Audrey Bates (a bridesmaid), Taihape; and Mr Roger Stewart, who is flying from Sydney to be best man at the wedding. Collection of Cacti . Attracting considerable attention at I the National Chrysanthemum Show [yesterday was a collection of cacti shown- by Mrs M. Moorby, district vice-president of the New Zealand Cacti Society, Mrs Lock, of Long Acre, and Mr Knight, of Marton, of the society. They arranged the display to create interest in the Cacti Society and with the hope that many people would become enthusiastic in the culture of cacti and form a branch here. The exhibit proved very fascinating to many visitors to the show yesterday.
