TURAKINA NEWS

Rugby Football TURAKINA, April 26 (OCR—Tura. kina got away to a good start thia Rugby season wilh tlieir 15-0 win against Hunterville on Saturday. I'neir win was mainly due to the fact that they were a fitter team, thanks to the efforts of P. T. instructor K. Berryman, and that the handling by tire backs has improved considerably. The first try, scored ten minutes after start of play, came from a nice passing movement by the backs, the type of play spectators like to see. The ball iravelled from the half-back out to tiie wing and on to the centre and five-eighths, who had come up in support, on the oulside and scored. J. Lane, the veteran player who played well at centre, and who has in past seasons proved his worth as a goal-kicker, appears to have had his day in that capacity. He missed all of fix attempts on Saturday, although they were not all easy. W. Lc Quesne played at second five-eighths in the first half and moved in to halt-back in the second spell, where he played a game out of the box. It should pay to leave him in this position. J. Karatau, usually a wing threequarter, played on the side of the scrum and looks like becoming a useful forward when he learns not to break too soon. He was penalised for this on Saturday. The pick of the forwards was G. Hood and H. Burston, both of whom played a great game, each scoring a try. Other scorers were W. Le Quesne, T. Burke and B. Short. «. TENNIS.
