Australian Officials To Visit N.Z. To Discuss Double Taxation

CANBERRA. April 15 (Rec. 6.30 p.m.)—The Prime Minister (Mr. Chifley) announced that the Income Tax Commissioner (Mr. P. S. M"Govern) and' two officials are going shortly to New Zealand to discuss the double taxation agreement. This is part of the negotiations between New Zealand and Australia to achieve stable trading. The main difficulty here, as Australian authorities can see to achieving the double taxation agreement, is that taxation lows covering companies in New Zealand differ widely from Australian legislation. Mr. Chifley will discuss the outcome of the conference with his officers when he returns from th* United Kingdom.
