CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA) —Top price of 750gns at the fifth annual sale of trotting and pacing-bred yearlings at the Trotting Grounds at Addington today was paid by Mr H. Mr Abrahams also oougnt an upstanding black colt by Grattan Loyal from Lake Arrowhead for 500gns and a filly by Gold Bar from Flying Helenwhich left Congo Song to the same sire, for 300gns. A massive youngster, the Grattan Loyal colt, attracted a lot of attention.
Mrs A F. Matthews secured 500gns for a striking chestnut colt by Springfield Globe from Trusty Friend, which was bought by Mr W. Mitchell (Mosgiel). Next highest price. 400gns, was paid by Mr P. G. Harkness (Hamilton) for a colt by U Scott from Garner and by Mr M. Holmes for a nicely-made chestnut colt by Light Brigade from Millie de Oro. Apart from Mr Abrahams, Australian buyers were not represented and their absence had a marked effect on the sale- which was most disappointing. Of 126 lots catalogued 16 were withdrawn and 65 passed. Only 20 of the lots sold brought more than 200 guineas.
