Mr L. R. Leary, touring manager for the Isador Goodman Company, is visiting Wanganui to make arrangements for the famous pianist’s appearance here on April 28. Mr John Alexander Wallace has been appointed registrar of births and deaths of Maoris at Koriniti. according to a notice in last night's Gazette. —(O.C.) The Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, Prime Minister of New Zealand, left Wellington yesterday and travelled to Auckland by air on the first stage of his journey to London to attend a conference of Prime Ministers of the British Commonwealth. Mr. F. W. Doidge, M.P. for Tauranga, will visit Wanganui on Tuesday. That night he will address a meeting at Gonville which is being arranged by the Castlecliff-Gonville section of the National Party in the Patea Electorate. Major-General Sir Norman W. McD. Weir has been appointed Colonel of the first Divisional Regiment, R.N.Z. A.C. (New Zealand Scottish), according to a Defence notice published in last night’s Gazette. Major-General Weir is a former Chief of the General Staff and the first military member of the Army Board.
