Australian Athletes Will Appear On Cook’s Gardens Tonight

Accompanied by their manager, Mr. R. Graham, members of the touring Australian athletic team, which is to compete on Cook’s Gardens tonight, arrived in Wanganui yesterday afternoon. The members of the team are: Messrs. Morris. J. Curotta, Gec/frey C. Goodacre, George Avery and David A White. They were met on arrival Messrs. G. Benson, president of the West Coast (N. 1. Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A., Ivan Brown, a member of the centre, and E. Lind, secretary. Curotta, who is the fastest white man over 440 yards in the world, is only 18. He left school last November and will have a match race with Peter Henderson, the West Coast champion, tonight over 100 yards. Both will be on the scratch mark. Curotla will compete in one heat of the 220, but will not contest the final. Goodacre will be seen in action in the 220 yards hurdles and high jump. White will appear in the 880 yards race and most likely in the one mile.
