Good Competition At Fordell Ewe And Cattle Fair

The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Inc. in England) report on the Fordell supplementary c-we fair and cattle sale held on Tuesday:— “A yarding of 4500 sheep and 400 head of station-bred cattle was offered to a large bench of buyers, principally from Taranaki and Rangitikei districts, and competition from these areas was again particularly strong. We can report a total clearance at auction of the sheep. “The market for 5-year ewes was firmer than the main ewe fair and showed an increase of 2s to 3s per head on medium to good ewes, Mr. A. H. Mac Lean’s 5-year ewes topped the sale, realising 39s Id to 39s 9d. Fouryear ewes, late shorn, offered on account of Misses M. and C. Sutherland, made 39s 3d.
