Old Folks Afternoon
Old folk who were members of or connected with the Baptist Church in Ingestre Street were entertained recently by the deaconness and B.Vv.M.U. members of that church, to an afternoon function held in the Sunday School hall. There was a good attendance of the old folk. The minister, Rev. N. R. Wood, presided. The function commenced with the presentation of a spray or buttonhole to each one present, after which a short programme of Christmas carols and items was presented. Those taking part were Misses L. Harre (elocution), B. Wood (piano) and J. Ward, M. Bellit, and J. Chesswas (carols). A community sing of well known carols and hymns then took place, followed by afternooh tea. On behalf of the guests, Mr. D. J. Bell thanked those responsible for the afternoon. Rev. Wood closed with seasonal thoughts and a prayer and extended to all those present a very happy time during Christmas and the coming new year.
