Youth Drowned When Crossing River
INVERCARGILL, Last Night (PA)
—A drowning fatality occurred in the Oreti River this evening, the victim being James Warren Leckie, aged 17, of Limehills, who was employed as a farmhand at Oreti. Leckie and a companion went for a swim and the former tried to cross the river. He had reached the centre of the stream when he disappeared. The bodv has not vet been recovered.
