Motorist Fined For Failure To Renew Driver's Licence
Charged with driving a car when he did not have a licence, Richard John Hurley was fined £l, costs 10s, by Mr. J. 11. Salmon, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Wanganui, yesterday. Sergeant A Carlyon, who prosecuted, said that defendant tola the police that he had overlooked renewing his licence. On a further charge of driving a car which did not have a number plate attached. Hurley was fined 10s, costs 10s, and for not carrying a warrant of fitness was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. Constable L. Stephenson, who stopped defendant’s car in Victoria Avenue on November 1, said that Hurley told him that he did not know lhe front number plate was not. affixed to the car. The plate was located, however, in the back of the car. The warrant of fitness was ten days overdue.
