Fog Over London For Seventh Day
LONDON. Nov 29 (Reed. 11.20 pm).—Fog in the early hours today lay as densely as ever over London. ‘‘The Times” says the sneli of the fog has been the most extensive and persistent for some years. This is the seventh day it has lain over London and south-east England. The fog which has blacked out large areas of Britain for several days today showed no signs of lifting. However, big breaks in some parts of Western Europe were reported. British meteorological experts forecast that there was ‘‘little hope of change in the forecastahle future.” In France the deathroll due to the tog has risen to five. A Diesel train at Vernon, 60 miles from Paris, killed a man and two women who did not see it approaching. Two men were killed and ten injured at Belleville-sur-Saone, in Central France.
Fog in Britain stretched from the Scottish border to the south coast of England.
The fog again caused the postponement of the sailing of the Queen In Germany the Gatow meteorological office reported today that widespread fog over Germany dealt the “airlift” the heaviest blow since it began. Gatow has been closed since shortly before midnight on Saturday. Radar was being used to bring planes into Tempelhof, where traffic was normal, All airlines, shipping and road transport in France have been suspended. Heavy fog blanketed most of Holland, and further fog is forecast for most of Switzerland.
