Union Boat Club Members Fours; First Heats Decided

Rowing conditions were ideal for the first round of the Union Boat Club Members’ Fours trophy rowed last night, when four heatj were contested over a mile course. The crews had to contend with an incoming tide, and it was hard going for the oarsmen all the way. Some of lhe rowers lacked condition and more work will be required in the boats before racing standard is reached.

The following are the results of the racing:—A. Tonks beat J. Cleary and C. R. Buttars; M. Brown-Sharpe beat J. Price and R. Tregurtha; J. White beat N. Crabbe; I. Cresswell beat J. Buller.

Racing will be continued this evening, when the repechage heats will be rowed, the crews who were defeated in the first round again competing in an elimination series.
