Wanganui Executive Meeting Of Mothers Helpers’ Society
Mrs. A. H. Mac Lean presided at a meeting of (he executive of the Wanganui Mothers Helpers Society held last Friday, when members present were Mesdames T. F. Latham (secretary), C. S. Ryan (treasurer), E- B. Cooke, Ogg, C. R. White, and C. A. Piper. Sympathy in theii illness was extended to the patroness o£ the society, Mrs. W. J. Rogers, and Mrs. F. C. Jannings, the president, on behalf of the society, conveying best wishes for a speedy recovery for both. The secretary reported on the housekeepers’ work for the month, and the treasurer gave the financial statement. In giving the monthly report of lhe Residential Nursery, Mrs. MacLean said the nursery would be closed tor two weeks at Christmas while the staff members had their annual leave. Arrangements were made to help with the “bring and buy” day to be held next week. It was decided to subsidise the board of several children in the nursery. Mrs. Mac Lean said she had represented the society at the League of Mothers’ birthday party. Following the reading of a report from the Aid to Britain Committee, the president stressed that now people knew it was aid for Britain, instead of food for Britain, the committee was receiving much more enthusiastic support. It was announced that the committee will not meet again until February. The executive officers were given power to act for the society in any case of emergency or urgent business. The president wished everybody a happy Christmas.
