U.N.O. Condemns Yugoslavia, Bulgaria And Albania For Actions Against Greece

Calls On Them To Cease Aiding Guerrillas

(N.Z.P.A.—Reuter—Copyright.)

PARIS, Nov. 27 (Rec. 6 pin).—Greece, in the United Nations General Assembly today, condemned Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania for aiding Greek guerrillas and called on them to eease giving such aid.

The Assembly approved a resolution by the “Big Three” and China to this effect by 47 votes to six. The resolution also effects continuation of the work of the United Nations special committee on the Balkans. The Assembly also nassed unanimously a resolution originating in a Soviet proposal calling on Greece, Yugoslavia, Albania and Bulgaria, to establish diplomatic relations and renew previously operative frontierconventions beween them. The resolution asked the four Governments to report within six months to the United Nations on the effect they had 'given these recommendations. The Assembly passed unanimously a resolution calling lor the return to Greece of all Greek children whose parents or closest relations asked for them. The Assembly voted down paragraphs in the Russian resolution calling for removal of any discrimination against Macedonians and Albanians living in Greece, the withdrawal of foreign troops from Greece, an end to U.N.S.C.O.B’s. work and the preamble contending that the Greek situation was due to increased foreign interference in Greek domestic affairs. The Assembly defeated the whole Russian proposal by 47 votes to six . Dr. Evatt (Australia) said he regarded the resolution of the Political Committee asking him to mediate between Greece end Yugoslavia, Albania and Bulgaria as still in operation. He added that he would continue his efforts next week to get agreement. These conciliation efforts had already 'met with some success.” Mr. Vyshinsky (Russia) attacked members of the Balkans Commission as “amateurs, greenhorns and dillettantes,” when the assembly opened the debate on Greece today. Mr. Vyshinsky declared: "No one who has never held a pair of scissors in his hands can make a tailored coat.” Mr. Glenvil Hall (Britain) said: “We all know that an attempt is being made to impose on the Greek people a ruthless terrorism conducted by a minority. We all know that if an order is given foreign assistance to this minority would cease forthwith. We all note that delegations of the Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, and those who follow Mr. Vyshinsky’s lead, make no offer to cease aiding the rebels.” Waving his arms and nounding the

table, Mr. Vyshinsky replied to Mr. Hall by asserting that U.N.5.C.0.8. investigators were “amateur Sherlock Holmes’ who dabbpled in detective work.” While Mr. Vyshinsky was shouting that the U.N.5.C.0.8. report -ivas “garbage” and "based on distortion, falsification and bad faith,” the lights failed in the gilded great hall of the Palais de Chaillot. When new lights came on again in a few minutes Mr. Vyshinsky sat down. Mr. Tsaldaris. the Greek Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, told the Assembly: "The very existence of my country is threatened. #Communist bands are being assisted by Albania, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.” Mr. Tsaldaris. stated that Greece was co-operating fullv in efforts of the Assembly President (Dr. Evatt) to mediate Greece’s difference with three neighbours. The American delegate (Mr. Dulles) said that the violence of Mr. Vyshinsky and other Eastern bloc speakers was the best evidence of eastern help to General Markos. Mr. Dulles accused the Russian bloc of using force, coercion and terrorism to spread Communism and called for a halt to their tactics. Doctor Julius Katz-Suchy (Poland) said that responsibility for troubles in Greece rested on “American interventionists and military leaders who impose their will on the Greek Government. “It is usless to drive for peace as long as the United States pursues this policy,” he said.
