King Unlikely To Undertake Strenuous Tour Such As To N.Z.

LONDON; Nov. 27 (Rec. 6 p.m.)— The “Sunday Express” court reporter says that although official quarters reiused to comment, tbffi’e is a substantial measure of truth in the Australian Press report from Canberra Quoting official sources that the King’s illness is more serious than early reports indicated. It is unlikely that the King will be able again to undertake any strenuous tours, like the one planned for New Zealand and Australia. There is nothing to prevent the King continuing his normal routine of receiving Ministers, reading and signing estate documents and so on. No question arises, therefore, of setting up a Council of State, or otherwise delegating the Royal powers, but the King’s programme from now on will be more on the lines of that of King George V in his latter years, with far fewer public appearances. Buckingham Palace officials, in accordance with the usual practice, declined to comment on rumours spread abroad, such as the statement made in the United SV-tes that the King’s condition is serious and an operation is possible. It, however, is stated semiofficially, says Reuter, that no immediate operation is contemplated and no reference to the need for an operation was expected to be included in the bulletin on Monday.
