ITALY URGED TO JOIN EUROPEAN CONFEDERATION
PARIS, Nov. 28 (Reed. 6 pm).—The Five-Power European Unity Committee has moved to bring Italy into the project of the Continental Federation. Britain's chief delegate, Mr. Hugh Dalton, is reported by French sources to have urged that the Italian Republic be "promptly associated” in the committee’s work. The French chief delegate (M. Herriott) is said to have warmly seconded the idea. Officials stressed that the invitation to Italy to join the Unity Committee did not mean that Italy is being asked to Gin the Western European Alliance. which is chiefly a military proposition.
