Wanganui Ambulances Attend Three Accidents Cases On Saturday..

Three accident cases were attended by the Wanganui Hospital Board’s Free Ambulance service on Saturday. The first can was received shortly after 2.30 p.m. to the Main North Road, about half a mile south of Kai Iwi. A transport truck travelling from Wanganui to Waverley and a large carry-all scoop proceeding in the opposite direction, had been involved in a collision. A passenger on the transport truck, Mr. Watty, who works at Waverley, but whose home is at 65 Niblett Street, received head injuries. He was brought to the Wanganui Hospital by ambulance and after treatment in the out-patients’ department was able to go home. The transport truck, which capsized was considerably damaged, the cab being crushed down almost to the level of the tray. When the motor-cycle he was riding became involved in a collision with a motor-car on the Main South Road, half a mile south of Kaitoke, late on Saturday night, Mr. E. D. Shortland, of Longburn, received leg injuries. He was brought to the Wanganui Hospital hy ambulance. The third call on Saturday was at 11.30 p.m. to Victoria Avenue, where a City Council employee, Mr F. Gardiner. 107 Campbell Street, had been knocked down by a car. Mr. Gardiner was engaged in street clearing operations at the time. He received bruises and shock and was admitted to hospital.
