Indian Stowaway Hides In Wheel Recess Of Plane
SYDNEY, Nov. 26 (Rec. 8 p.m.)— The crew of a British Commonwealth Pacific Airways Skymaster revealed, on landing in Sydney today from America, that an 18-year-old Indian flew 3200 miles from Fiji to Honolulu hidden in the narrow tunnel into which the nose wheel of the plane retracts. As the Skymaster was about to take off from Naoi aerodrome, Fiji, the Indian made a dagh in the darkness and climbed into the tunnel. At isolated Canton Island, where the plane refuelled 6i hours later, the Indian remained hidden. The hop to Honolulu took 10 hours. There the Indian awaited his chance and dropped from the Skymaster unseen. He escaped to the outskirts of the aerodrome, where he was detained. His explanation was that he had grown tired of farming in Fiji.
