Intruder Arrested In Auckland Premises
AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.)Two plate glass windows, a plate glass door and a large number of milk bottles were smashed when a man broke into and entered the premises of John Burns, Ltd., in Customs Street East shortly after 7 o’clock tonight. The sound of breaking glass attracted the attention of several people and the police were notified. Police went to John Burns, Lid., where they found two windows broken and a door smashed. A milk crate was lying upside down in the doorway of ine premises. A number of partly broken bottles were inside the crate and the remaining bottles were scattered in the doorway and over the footpath. The intruder had used the milk crate and its contents, first to smash the windows and then to break in the door. The crate had been thrown down by the intruder before ho enter'd the building.
Policemen went into the building and a man was found in one of the offices on th 2 ground floor. He was arrested and taken to the Queen's Wharf Police Station. The arrested man will appear in the Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. No estimate of the damage could be given tonight.
