Rush For Seats At Civic Reception To Royalty At Wellington

WELLINTON, Last Night (PA).— More than 600 applications above the normal seating accommodation have been received already for the civic reception on the occasion of the Royal visit said the Mayor (Mr. Appleton) when proposals submitted bv the Citizens Committee were approved by the City Council

A committee comprising the Mayor and three councillors, was set up to go into the final details. It was his opinion that the fairest method of catering for the public at the civic reception would be for seats to be balloted for after provision had been made for those entitled to attend," said the Mayor. He felt that one wav of meeting the situation would be to consult with the Government and suggested that those who would have the opportunity ot seeing and hearing Their Majesties at Government receptions might make way for others at tlie civic reception. He wanted to see the public given every chance to be present at tlie city’s welcome.
