Eclipse Of Sun Observed In Australia

SYDNEY, Nov. 1, Recd. 12.15 a.m.— Clouds and some rain marred observation in many parts of Australia of the partial eclipse of the sun, and from the layman’s point of view there was little to see. From the scientific angle results were disappointing, but valuable photographs were taken from Sydney and from the Mount Stromolo Observatory at Canberra, and a series of radio tests were carried out by officers of the Council of scientic and Industrial Research located in various places in Australia. Their object was to determine what radio noises emanated from the sun as a mass and how much came from sunspots.
