Chaplain Known By N.Z. Troops Dies On Holiday In Cyprus

LONDON, Oct. 29 (Reed. 7.15 pm). —The death occurred recently, while on holiday at Kyrenia, Cyprus, ot the Rev. Percy Wyndham Guinness, D. 5.0., 0.8. E., M.C., Church of England chaplain at Maadi, Heliopolis and Helwan, near Cairo, during the war years.
The Rev. P. W. Guinness took a close personal interest in the welfare of New Zealand Base troops stationed at Maadi base camp, and as chairman of the Maadi Recreation Committee took a leading part in organising and directing that very popular establishment. With his sister, Miss Flora Guinness, he also acted as host to many hundreds of New Zealanders. Aged 73, he was awarded the D.S.O. and M.C. as chaplain in the First World War.
