FRENCH COAL STRIKE

GOVERNMENT FORCES TAKE ANOTHER iMINE. LONDON, Oct. 29 (Recd. 10 pm).— The British United Press Association's correspondent in Paris says that 400 mobile guards captured the Couriot mine in Saint Etienne, which is the biggest-in central France. Three thousand miners were holding out behind barricades, but only six were captured. The Secretary of State to the Prime Minister’s office, Mr. Paul Devinat, after a Cabinet meeting, said the Government considered the strike situation throughout France was at present favourable. The Government now had possession of 60 of 113 pits in the north.
