Unions Concur In Action To Discipline Absentee Miners
LONDON, Oct. 29 (Rec. 6pm) Disciplinary committees are to be set up at a’l pits with power to deal with absentee miners under a plan drawn up by the joint production committee of the Coal Board and the National Union of Mine workers. Persistent absentees will be fined £2, which they can win back by full attendance over the next 12 weeks. In extreme cases absentees may be prosecuted or dismissed, and where this action is taken the union will not support or countenance support being given to the men con - cerned.
