Customs Revenue. Customs revenue collected from all sources in Wanganui last month totalled £37,127, which is a steep decrease compared with the corresponding month last year, when the total was £56,505. The comparative totals with those for October last year in parentheses are: Customs £13,428 £27,746); sales tax £16,711 (£21,228); petrol £6988 (£7515). General Assembly. The last Sunday in October is now known throughout the Catholic world as the ‘‘Feast of Christ the King,” and wherever possible celebrations are he-d to honour the festival. The Catholics of Wanganui will honour the festival tomorrow afternoon by hiding an outdoor procession of the Blessed Sacrament in the grounds of the Sacred Heart Convent, St. John’s Hill. Those taking part in the procession will include members of the various parish sodalities, Hibernian Society, Holy Name Men, school chilchildren and parishioners. Life-saving Awards.

Fifty-three of the 77 life-saving awards won in the Wanganui district during during the 1947-48 season went to the pupils of the Wanganui Girls’ College. This was reported at the monthly meeting of the Board of Governors on Thursday. In the compettion for the Bamford Shield between post-primarv schools, the college came sixth and was one of the seven schools, compared with 33 the previous two years, . to obtain 50 awards or more. “I am really proud of that, considering the size of some of the schools,” said Miss M. E. Baker, college principal.

Marching Centre A decision to form a Wanganui Marching Centre, affiliated to the New Zealand Marching Association, Wellington, was agreed to at a meeting held on Thursday night. Lieut.Colonel G. P. O’Leary, president of the New Zealand Marching Association, was present and outlined the functions of a centre. The election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr. E. BGordon, M.P. (Rangitikei); president, Mr. D. A. Almond; vice-presidents, Messrs Dawson and Askew; executive, Messrs Kendrick and Livett (Marton), Mr. Chambers and Miss N. Rennie (Wanganui); secretarytreasurer, Mr. E. H. Bulmer.
