Price Of Tea To Be Reduced By Sixpence Monday

PARLIAMENT BLDGS, Last Night (PA).—A reduction of 6d per lb in the price of tea was announced tonight by the Minister of Industries anil Commerce (Mr. Nordmeyer). The reduction will be effective from Monday. The Minister said the adjust ment in the rate of exchange meant a saving in terms of New Zealand currency in the purchase price of our teas. “The Government desires that the benefits of the exchange adjustment should be passed on to customers as soon as possible,” said the Minister. “Tea stocks were at a high level in New Zealand at the time the adjustment was made, as they had been specially built up by Government purchases prior to the abolition of rationing.
