Praise Of Britain By U.S. Executive Of European Aid
LONDON, Oct. 28 Recd. 6.4opm) “I am going back with a clear impression that Britain has made remarkable progress in making good her pledge of self-help,” said Mr. Paul Hoffman, European Recovery Administrator, before leaving London by air for New York last night. He added: “To be quite honest, when I took this job in April it seemed to me that the goals Britain had set herself in the first year were quite unattainable, but I must admit that the progress made dispels all my doubts.
“The very gallant and successful fight Britain is putting up to build up her exports and hold down imports, and thus achieve financial stability, is one which commands the world’s admiration.”
