Miss Marie Gordon, Wellington, spent the week-end in Wanganui as the guest of her mother.’ Mrs. E. J. Chesswas, Aramoho, is viting Dunedin for Baptist General Assembly. Mrs. S. Sheaves and Mrs. R. Timbs leave today for Hamilton, where they will attend the Hamilton Kennel Club’s Show.
Mrs. J. A. Wither and Mrs. D. W. Reid, of the Oroua Federation of Women's Institutes, were visitors to the half-yearly council meeting of the Wanganui District Federation of Women’s Institutes, held at Fordell yesterday. Mrs. C. Poole, of Los Angeles, is visiting Wanganui for a few days and is the guest of Mrs. R. Bond, Bell Street, after staying with Mrs. D. Garrett, Durie Hill. Mrs. Poole, who has been away from New Zealand for 20 years and is spending a year in the Dominion, formerly lived in Wellington. Her late husband, the Rev. C. Poole, was the first Methodist minister in Aramoho. Years afterwards entered the political field and was M.P. for Auckland. Later he went to America. Mrs. Poole will speak to a gathering at the Y.M.-Y.W.C.A. this afternoon. She will leave on Saturday for New Plymouth and Auckland.
