U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

WALLACE CLAIMS TO HAVE “SAVED THE PEACE”

NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Recd 8.40 pm).—Mr. Henry Wallace, in a speech tonight, claimed that he and the Progressive Party had “stopped the cold war in its tracks.”

He added: “Because of us the gallant patriots of Israel —representing the most vital democracy in the world today—have not been betrayed by Wall Street and its oil. Because of us, and our magnificent allies in the churches of America, ‘big brass’ was halted in its attempt to saddle American youth with universal military training. Because of us the millions of Americans in the south —'black Americans and white —stand on the threshold of new and richer freedom.
