Trades Council In Wanganui To Find Casual Farm Labour
The Wanganui Trades and Labour Council has offered to co-operate with the Aid for Britain Committee in providing casual labour for district farmers during the busy harvesting season, reported Mr W. J. Tripe, a member of the committee, at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Provincial Executive of Federated Farmers. He said that the council was endeavouring to arrange the holidays of many of its members so that they would be able to give assistance on- farms during the busy season
Stating that the offer was both constructive and genuine, Mr. Tripe said that the committee would appreciate information from farmers as to their potential casual labour requirements so that the necessary labour could be arranged by the council. “It is very nice to know that they are co-operating with us,” commented Mr. C. D. Corliss.
