Recd. 10.5 p.m. Washington, Sept. 13. Ezzard Charles, of Cincinnati, 176 Tb, defeated Jimmy Bivins, of Cleveland, 178ilb, on points in a ten-round heavyweight fight tonight. It was the first in a series of eliminations to determine the successor to Joe Louis, when the champion formally retires.
