MORE UNREST IN THE NORTH N.S.W. MINES
Recd. 8.40 p.m. Sydney, Sept 14 in the biggest upsurge of unrest on the northern New South Wales coalfields since mass stoppages last month on the holiday issue, 17 mines are idle today for a production loss of 14,000 tons of coal, representing a quarter °f the entire State output. Nine mines are immobilised on the demand by miners for disciplining of a mine manager who refused to meet a lodge delegation when it arrived •mu an h° ur late for a conference. J he men have refused an offer bv the Coal Industry Tribunal (Mr. F. Gallagher) to look into the dispute providing they return to work. A further eight mines joined the stnkeis today, and Mr. Gallagher refused to proceed with an inquiry or with a hearing on the 35-hour week
