Wanganui District To Fore In The National Savings
By attaining their respective National Savings quotas for the year ended March 31. 1949, OhaXme, Ohingaiti, and Patea have, in conjunction with the other seven quota towns, namely Wanganui City, Mangaweka, Marton, Raetihi, Taihape, Waitotara, and Waverley, demonstrated the popularity of this 3 per cent, interest bearing investment and its value to the investors generally. Only four offices, Aramoho, Hunterville, Ohakune Junction, and Rangataua have not yet been successful in an early attainment of the desired objectives.
During the wepk ending Juljz 24, 323 out of 352 towns and all 20 postal districts exceeded their respective weekly quotas. Dunedin and Timaru districts also exceeded their annual quotas for the year ended March 31, 1949, making a total of six districts, including Wanganui, with this success. Since April 1, 129 towns in the Dominion have attained theii’ respective annual quotas.
Throughout the Dominion, group saving is going ahead in leaps and bounds; for the first quarter of the campaign year, 3547 new group accounts were opened in various business firms, shops, local bodies, and Government departments, as well as 106 new groups.
