L'tiku.— The June meeting of the Utiku W.I. was held recently, when Mrs. J. Loughnane presided and welcomed a good attendance of members and two visitors. After the opening ceremony was dealt with, Mrs. P. Henery reported that sufficient clothing had been handed in to enable her to forward two boxes for the U.N. appeal- Arrangements were made in connection with the Spring Flower Show, to be held later. Miss E. Transome. a visitor from Masterton, gave a most interesting talk on clinical work at St. Helen’s Hospital in Wellington. The president warmly thanked the speaker for her address. Mrs. A. Fan demonstrated grafting gypsophila cuttings which proved most instructive. The roll call on "Famous Personalities” brought forth some Interesting information. Two members received birthday sprays. Competitions resulted as follows: Bran Biscuits. Mrs- G. M. Transom. Mrs. J. Loughnane, Mrs. C. F. Brooke all equal; apron, Mrs. Meredith; premier flower, Mrs. A. Farr. Competitions for the July meeting will be for apple shortcake and a tea cosy made from any material except wool. The National Anthem closed the meetingConcert by St. Paul’s Choir. To aid the funds for the memorial stops of the organ of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, the choir gave a varied and enjoyable concert on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul's Hall. A very satisfactory sum was realised. The programme, which was arranged by Mrs. W. E. Fossette, was as follows:—A play by St. Paul’s Girls’ Club (produced by Miss Chelley), vocal duets, Misses J. Chelley and R. Wight, Misses N. Wight and B. Robb, and Mrs. Fossette and Mr. Kingston; elocution, Mrs Payne; nursery rhyme sketch, Miss A. Bisset and Mr. Athol Kerby, who also contributed a pianoforte solo; vocal solos, Mr. Hodder and Master George Rushton; musical medley by the choir.
