N.Z. Founders’ Society Wanganui Branch

A well-attended meeting of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Founders’ Society was held in the Victoria League Rooms last Friday evening. Discussion groups headed by Mesdames J. G. Robinson and C. E. Burrell and Mr. C. F. Richardson (Okoia) later pooled their findings concerning future activities. The president, Mr. E. J. Burke, gave a detailed account of the historic Wakefield property situated on The Terrace, Wellington, which has recently been acquired by the New Zealand Founders’ Society to be used as headquarters. Although the society has not been in existence for many years it already has gathered much histone material, and members are being considered for places on important Boards, such as the Geographical Board and the Waitangi Trust Board. Many interesting facts were mentioned by various members and it was decided to keep a scrap book in which to record these memories of the past.
