Club Team Nominated As Maori All Blacks For Tour Of Fiji
(P.A.) Whangarei, June 28. The entire Tai Tokerau team, which trounced Te Waipounamu by 45 points to 3 in a Prince of Wales Cup match at Whangarei on Saturday has been nominated for the Maori All Blacks, who tour Fiji late next month and in early August. En block nomination was made by the four Tai Tokerau selectorsThe fifteen players nominated are: Backs: J. B. Smith, N. Cherrington, K Proctor. Forwards: E. Tatai, W. Pearson, V. Pearson, J. Murray, I. Thomas, S. Urlich, J. Te Haara, J. Isaacs, T. H- Te Puni, C. Harris, W. Reid. It is understood that Reid will not be available for final selection. The Cup game was the first of two trials being played prior to the naming of the team for Fiji.
