Flying-Boat Service In Dominion Is Not Considered Likely

(P.A.) Wellington, June 28. Commenting on South Island proposals for the establishment ot an internal flying-boat network in New Zealand, Sir Leonard Isitt, chairman of the National Airways Corporation, indicated that the introduction of a regular internal flying-boat service was highly unlikely.

He said that the size of the country and its potential air traffic were such that the Dominion could not afford to support both sea and landplane networks and, at the best, there were only six or eight places in New Zealand which could be served by fly-ing-boats. All the populous countries could, and would, eventually be served by landplane services.
