Some Lines Of Ewes Lacked Condition At Fordell Winter Fair

A number of lines of ewes which come forward to this sale every year lacked the condition of previous years as the drv season experienced was against them, state the auctioneers. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co- Ltd., in reporting on the Fordell winter ewe fail. The yarding comprised 5000 breeding ewes and 2000 lambs.

The majority of ewes offered were mated to Southdown rams, and were held for this particular sale by settlers who have supported a winter ewe fair at Fordell for some years. Desnite wintry conditions and heavy rain during the sale, vendors were willing to meet the market, and there was an almost total clearance undei the hammer. The ewes were ourchased bv local. Taranaki. Raetihi and Rangitikei farmers, whilst the bulk ot the lambs went to Taranaki buyers who operated strongly in that section. Principal sales were:—
