PRESENTATION TO MEMBERS. ; At the May meeting of the Wangaehu Women's Division of the Federated Farmers opportunity was taken by members, in conjunction with Red Cross members of making presentations to the Misses June and j Valerie Bignell on the occa.sions of their marriages. Mrs. Hawken presided over the meeting and expressed her pleasure at seeing such a large muster of members. Correspondence was dealt with and discussion took place re the forthcoming Dominion Conference. It was hoped that Mrs. H. Andersen would be able to represent members there. Reports were given by the Provincial delegate, Mrs. Frederick and also a report on the Inter-Provincial meeting by Mrs. H. Andersen, after which Mrs. Bartrum addressed the meeting explaining the requirements of the questionnaire for the sheep farming commission. Mrs. Mackintosh on behalf of the Town and Country Residential Nursery asked members for donations of fresh vegetables, several members promising some. Members were reminded that they were entitled to place one entry only in each class for “Best bloom and best shrub.” Before afternoon tea was served, Mrs. Hawken, on behalf of division members and Mrs. Craig for the Red Cross spoke of the good work done by the Bignell family during the war years, when Mr. and Mrs. Bignell offered their home as a Red Cross hospital and of the willing help given by the Misses Bignell. On behalf of members Miss June Bignell was asked to accept a crystal bowl and Mrs. Bignell to accept a similar one on behalf of her daughter, Valerie, whose marriage had taken place previously. Sprays were presented to the guests of honour and then Mrs. Spencer entertained by singing two solos, which were much appreciated.
A competition was enjoyed by all members and brought the afternoon to a close.
