Mr. C. S. Smith has been elected president of the 11th Company of the National Military Reserve, Wanganui, for the ensuing year, and Mr. V. J. Heenan vice-president.
Mr. C. A. Greig, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Marton, has received notice of his transfer to Camoridge as manager of that brane., and leaves early next month. Mr. H. ,K. Slocombe, from the Edendale 'branch, Southland, lias been appointed the new manager at Marton.
The Rev. Father M. A. Brennan, parish priest at Upper Hutt since 1935, will celebrate the silver jubilee of his ordination today. He was ordained at St. Kiernan’s, Kilkenny, Ireland, on June 10, 1923, and came to New Zealand at the end of that year. He served in turn at Ohakune, Taihape, Eltham, Masterton, Westport, Foxton and Opunake and then at Upper Hutt. The Upper Hutt parishioners will make him a presentation at the local convent school on Sunnay afternoon.
