Mount Park Tribunal Not Yet Set Up

(P.A.) Auckland, June 8. Although the Government’s intention to form a tribunal to investigate first Mount Park dispute was announced by the Minister of Labour (Mr. McLagen) on Friday, no move in this direction has yet been made. The Mount Park, with a cargo, of Australian wheat, is still idle at Auckland and this morning five gangs of waterside workers, 80 men, were dismissed under penalty for refusing to lift her hatches.

The proposal to form a tribunal headed by a Judge of the Supreme Court was accepted grudgingly by the New Zealand Waterside Employers' Association and conditionally by the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union. The association held that move was “unwise and unnecessary" in view of the fact that the Waterfront Industry Commission was legally constituted as a tribunal. The union’s acceptance has provision that cranes are used to lift the Mount Park’s hatches so that the vessel can be worked now.
