Sir Royal Strikes Best Form At Levin

When Sir Royal won the Midhirst : : Juvenile at the Stratford meeting nearly eighteen months ago ‘ he scored his only success in ten starts: as a two-year-old, but he impressed as one likely to improve with age. In the current season Sir Royal had several essays without success but he struck his right form when he comfortably beat the opposition in the second division of the Kohi Highi weight at Waverley. It took a good I one in Trafalgar Day to beat him in | the Ohau Hack Handicap at Otaki,| ’ and it was not surprising to find Sir, Royal installed a 2/1 favourite in the' seven-furlong Apprentices’ Hack Han-' dicap at Levin la% Saturday week. 1 Sir Royal scored a comfortable win in the first division of that race, and incidentally gave his pilot, P. Mills, a win in his first ride in public. The i boy is apprenticed to his father, H.' Mills, of Hawera, who trains Sir Royal j for Mr. G. O’iver, also of Hawera. ! Sir Royal has won three races but is i still well under the hack limit, and, i he will have to be reckoned with in ‘ his early engagements now that he has struck form. He did not race at i Wanganui but will he reserved for the| Trentham winter meeting. Later onj Sir Royal should not be difficult to] place in open company.
