Webster Booth And Anne Ziegler
It is not difficult to understand why these artists enjoy in Britain a measure of popularity that comes only to a few, when it is realised how versatile they are and consequently how wide is the field of their activities. Between them they have scored triumphs in the International Opera at Covent Garden, performed in oratorio ! with Dr. Malcolm Sargent, and stari red in musical comedy on Broadway. In addition, they have co-starred in ' three films, “Faust,” “Waltz Time” j and “The Laughing Lady.” The lastmentioned film, a big technicolour production, is due for New Zealand 1 release shortly. On the London stage i outstanding successes have come their way in such fine productions as “Sweet Yesterday,” “Vagabond King” and many others. Together they have made hundreds of broadcasts, and their attractive gramophone recordings are constantly in demand. On several occasions they have performed by Royal command, and wherever they appear packed houses are a certainty. The New Zealand programmes are delightfully varied and contain some of the best known operatic arias and ballads, interspersed with a plentiful supply of duets from the most popular musical comedies. Box plans open next Tuesday at the D.I.C. for their recital at the Opera House on Monday, June 14.
