Trial Of Alleged Assassins Of Ghandi Opened At New Delhi
(Special Correspondent. N.Z.P. A.) Recd. 7.20 p.m. London, May 31 The trial has begun at New Delhi of Nathuram Vinayak Godse and eight men accused of conspiring with him for the murder of Mahatma Ghandi. It is being held in the historic Red Fort.
The general public is not to be admitted and only those with special tickets can enter. The trial ?s expected to last several months with more than 200 witnesses. Godse is Being defended by Bhop Atkar, a high caste Hindu Brahmin and a lifelong opponent of Ghandi’s Nationalism. He is expected to ask for a two months’ adjournment to prepare his case.
