Obituary

MR. 3. ROSOMAN

The death occurred recently of Mr. J. Rosoman, of Okoia, who was employed for many years by the New Zealand Railways Department. Born In Feildlng, Mr. Rosoman first started work in that district as a young man on the permanent way. Later he was in charge of the tablet station at Okoia. where fie remained for a period of ten years. Then followed 12 years in charge of the tablet at Ranglrlrl. Retiring 11 years ago, Mr. Rosoman took up residence in Ohakune. He came of-old pioneering stock, his father having arrived in New Zealand before the outbreak of the Maori wars. He is survived bv his widow, two sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs J. Rosoman (Gisborne) and H. Rosoman (Auckland). The daughters are Mrs. Doyle (Petone) and Miss Ann Rosoman (Ohakune). MR. M. I>. GILLON Mr Maurice D'Ousley Gillon, a member of the Hansard staff of the House of Representatives from 1900 to the time of his retirement last vear has died, aged 63. A son of Mr. E. T. Gillon. former editor ot the “Evening Post,” Wellington, Mr. Gillon was educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School. He was permanently appointed to the Legislative Department in 1917, becoming assistant-supervisor in October. 1932. Mr. Gillon took a keen interest in sport particularly Rugby football, tennis and squash. He was a member of the Wellington Racing Club and was at one time a racehorse owner.
