Another American Dies Of Wounds
Recd. 7.5 p.m. Washington, May 23 The State Department announced the second American fatality in Jerusalem. Herbert M. Walneer, United States Navy radioman detailed to the United States Consulate, died tonight of machine-gun wounds inflicted shortly after midnight on Friday. The homeward route of three United States Superfortresses from Germany has been changed "because this doesn’t seem like a good time for American military planes to visit Arab coun tries,” Air Force sources said today The original plan was for the planes to land at Dharam Saudi Arabi, and fly over other Middle East countries whose Arab leaders are annoyed at the United States for recognising the new State of Israel.
